A radiant meditative figure sits beneath a luminous golden sun, surrounded by celestial symbols and glowing solar energy, symbolizing clarity and purpose.

Your Inner Sun: Shining from the Core of Who You Are

This time of year always feels like a spotlight is shining directly onto my path. I find myself asking:

Am I truly living from my core? Or just performing pieces of myself?

In Vedic Astrology, the Sun (Surya) is not just a planet—it is your soul, your vitality, your divine spark. It represents Atma, the Self. And when you connect with the Sun within, your actions become aligned, purposeful, and radiant—no longer driven by fear or ego, but by clarity and dharma.

This week, as the Summer Solstice nears (on Thursday, June 20th), we enter a portal of solar empowerment. The Sun asks:

  • Who are you really?
  • What are you here to express?
  • What are you willing to burn away to live more truly?

Surya: The Soul’s Radiance in Jyotish

In Vedic Astrology, Surya governs:

  • The 1st House (Self) and Leo
  • Your spiritual path (dharma)
  • Confidence, vitality, and inner authority
  • The father, leaders, and how you shine

A strong Sun in a chart reflects:

  • Leadership and clarity
  • A sense of divine mission
  • Steadiness in the face of adversity

A weak or afflicted Sun may bring:

  • Low self-esteem
  • Ego-driven behavior
  • Fear of being seen
  • Inability to trust one’s own light

Tantra teaches us to burn through illusion, not by rejection, but by facing truth with presence. The Sun doesn’t apologize for shining. It simply is.

Tantra and the Solar Channel (Pingala Nadi)

The Pingala Nadi, or solar channel, runs up the right side of the body. It represents:

  • Masculine energy
  • Clarity and direction
  • Action and focus

When this channel is balanced, we feel:

  • Empowered
  • Decisive
  • Centered in our purpose
  • Able to take action without aggression

Too much solar energy? We burn out. Too little? We hide in shadows. Tantra invites us to find our unique rhythm of radiance.

Practices to Align with Your Inner Sun

  • Solar Breathwork (Right Nostril Breathing):

Inhale through the right nostril, exhale through the left for 3–5 minutes. Activates the Pingala Nadi.

  • Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar):

Practice at sunrise or midday. Move with intention—each pose is a way of bowing to your own light.

  • Mantra for the Sun:

Chant “Om Suryaya Namaha” to honor Surya and invite clarity and empowerment.

Journaling Prompt:
Where am I playing small out of fear? What would I do if I trusted my inner light?

Today’s Thought Exercises:

  1. What is your dharma calling you toward? Not your job—but your soul’s path. What wants to be expressed through you?
  2. Where do you fear being seen? And what part of you longs to shine, even if it’s scary?
  3. How can you honor your energy more fully? What needs to change to live more aligned with your inner radiance?
