What happens when we feel unworthy, unsafe, or unseen? Often, we try to fix it…

The Sacred Mirror: Honoring the Moon in Vedic Astrology & Tantra
As we arrive at the final week of April, I find myself softening. After a month of expansion through Jupiter, devotion through Venus, and grounded discipline through Saturn, I’m now turning toward the gentle, glowing presence of the Moon.
This weekends New Moon Ceremony is the perfect moment to explore the emotional landscape of the Moon—how it reflects our inner world, influences our intuition, and invites us into emotional wholeness.
In Vedic Astrology, the Moon isn’t just a passing light in the sky—it’s considered the most important planet for understanding our mind, our heart, and our needs. It governs the manas—the emotional and psychological self. And in Tantra, the Moon is sacred Shakti, the ever-changing face of the divine feminine within us all.
The Moon: Emotional Currents and Subtle Wisdom
Unlike the Sun, which represents our soul and purpose, the Moon in Vedic Astrology shows us:
- How we feel safe or unsafe
- Our emotional patterns and needs
- How we process change and connect to intuition
- Our relationship with the mother, the body, and the past
The Moon moves quickly—spending just 2.5 days in each sign—which is why our emotions are so changeable. Understanding your Moon sign and Nakshatra is key to knowing how you love, how you fear, and what nurtures you on a soul level.
When the Moon is strong, we feel:
- Emotionally stable
- Intuitively guided
- Connected to rhythm and flow
When the Moon is disturbed or afflicted, we might feel:
- Anxious or restless
- Emotionally reactive or withdrawn
- Overwhelmed by subtle energies or moods
For me, connecting with the Moon has been a lifelong practice of self-compassion. It’s helped me notice when I’m pushing instead of flowing, or when I’m disconnected from my body’s wisdom.
Tantra & the Moon: The Sacred Feminine Within
In Tantra, the Moon is the symbol of surrender, flow, and receptivity. It rules over:
- The Sacral Chakra – our creative and emotional center
- The feminine polarity in us all—regardless of gender
- The ability to feel deeply, intuit wisely, and hold space
Tantric practice encourages us to honor the Moon through:
- Ritual and rhythm
- Emotional awareness without judgment
- Slowness, stillness, and softness
Full Moon Tantric Ritual Suggestions
Moon Bathing – Sit under the moonlight, eyes closed, and simply feel. Let the lunar energy wash over your body.
Water Offering Ritual – Fill a bowl with water, flower petals, and a few drops of essential oil. Light a candle. Offer your prayers and emotions into the water, then pour it into the earth as an act of release.
Breath & Sound Practice – Breathe deeply into your belly. On your exhale, let sound emerge. No words, just vibration. Let the Moon move through you.
